Lesson 1: Conversion-focused Website

Is Your Website Up-to-date or Outdated?

The creation of the World Wide Web has tremendously impacted human history. It is a revolutionary invention by Sir Tim Berners-Lee in 1989.

The commercialisation of webpages did not happen until 1995 when more businesses started to look into online business. Amazon.com and eBay are two major first-movers e-commerce platforms started since then. Websites of the early days (called Web 1.0) were webpages connected to hyperlinks with static content. In other words, they are company or product information put together and published online.

As technology becomes more advanced, Web 2.0 started sometime in 2004. Social networking webpages played a pivotal role since then. The website evolution saw the technical ability to build interactive website content. Businesses started to realise a sales conversion-focused website would become a useful business tool to generate new business leads, along with the traditional lead generation mechanism.

What is a Conversion-focused Website?

How do you know you have built a conversion-focused website? The answer is the website consists of specific calls to action that lead to generating commercial and financial value for your business. The calls to action could be a product purchase, a new business lead, a new subscriber interested in your newsletter, webinar, courses, blog, e-learning access, or a reach out to contact you for an enquiry. In other words, a conversion-focused website is a digital marketing tool you include on the website to create new opportunities for your business.

A good conversion-focused website follows some marketing funnel principles. The A.I.D.A. (Attention, Interest, Decision, and Action) is a well-known marketing funnel framework marketers use in advertising, product or service promotion. We will look at how to craft your website content using the A.I.D.A. approach in Lesson 3 later.

Let's move to the next lesson and learn how to set revenue-generating goals for your website. Let's go!
